2025 National Children's Month

The 2025 National Children's Month theme hits hard because it addresses something many of us would not think about. Our kids are growing up online, and while that brings amazing opportunities, it also exposes them to dangers that didn't exist a generation ago. The government's decision to focus on OSAEC and CSAEM this year shows they're finally taking seriously what parents and child advocates have been warning about for years. Predators have gotten smarter and more brazen, using the same apps and platforms our children use every day. What makes this particularly heartbreaking is that exploitation can happen right under our noses, in bedrooms we thought were safe, through devices we gave them for schoolwork. Looking at how the government protects children, I see both progress and gaps. Yes, we have laws like the Anti OSAEC Act, and there are more awareness campaigns than before. But laws only work when they're enforced consistently, and that's where things get ...

Elpidio Quirino

Image
The 6th President of the Philippines; From Rugs to Riches   Elpidio Quirino was born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, into a poor family. His father worked as a jail guard and tried his skills at business, while his mother took care of the home and taught her children good values. Even though his family didn't have much money, Quirino worked hard to get an education and went to law school at the University of the Philippines. He passed the bar exam in 1915, which started his journey from a simple guy to becoming president.   Quirino's political career started in 1919 when he was elected to represent Ilocos Sur in the Philippine House of Representatives. He proved to be a good lawmaker and later served in the Senate from 1925 to 1935. During the Commonwealth period, he held important jobs including Secretary of Finance and Secretary of the Interior under President Manuel Quezon. In 1946, he became the Vice President during Manuel Roxas supremacy, and when Roxas die...

Puesta del Sol: A Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Place To Stay With In my opinion, Puesta del Sol stands out as a captivating resort located near the beach of Santa Catalina, Ilocos Sur, and represents an excellent example of how local communities can develop tourism infrastructure that benefits both visitors and residents. What I find particularly impressive about Puesta del Sol is its accessibility and location. The resort is situated just around five minutes' drive from Vigan City, which I assert is a significant competitive advantage. This proximity allows tourists to enjoy the historical attractions of Vigan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site while retreating to a more peaceful, and sunny environment. The facilities at Puesta del Sol demonstrate a commitment to family oriented tourism. The resort features family villas with three rooms, each equipped with bathrooms, televisions, and air conditioning, plus spacious living areas, balconies, and gardens. Additionally, the res...

2nd Quarter Reflection

a.) I've gained valuable insights into my own work patterns and time management habits through this period of self-reflection. The most significant discovery has been understanding that procrastination isn't simply laziness, but often stems from deeper issues like fear of failure, or feeling overwhelmed. This awareness has helped me understand my triggers and patterns, making me more conscious of when and why I tend to put things off. b.) The primary challenge I've faced has been procrastination, which has affected my ability to complete tasks efficiently and causes distress. I found myself constantly pushing deadlines, starting assignments at the last minute, and feeling anxious about the quality of my rushed work. This bad habit not only impacted my academic performance but also took a toll on my mental well-being. c.) To address this challenge, I started breaking large tasks into smaller, manageable that felt less intimidating and easier to start. I also established ...

The 2025 Teacher's Month celebration, themed "My Teacher, My Hero," serves as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary role educators play in shaping not just our minds, but our entire futures. This theme resonates deeply because it acknowledges what many of us have always known in our hearts, that teachers are indeed everyday heroes. They don't wear capes or possess superpowers, yet they perform miracles daily in classrooms across the nation. They transform confusion into clarity, nurture potential into achievement, and plant seeds of knowledge that bloom throughout our lifetimes. By recognizing teachers as heroes, we validate the immense responsibility they carry: molding the leaders, innovators, and citizens of tomorrow. Expressing gratitude to our teachers requires more than just words on Teacher's Day; it demands genuine appreciation demonstrated through our actions and attitudes. One of the most meaningful ways to show respect is by actively engaging in our...

Harnessing The Unknown : Powering the Future through Science

Image
The 2025 National Science Month celebration in the Philippines, with its compelling theme "Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation," represents a pivotal moment in recognizing science as humanity's most powerful tool for navigating uncertainty and building resilient communities. This theme acknowledges that the greatest scientific breakthroughs often emerge from venturing into uncharted territories—from quantum computing and artificial intelligence to biotechnology and sustainable energy solutions. By embracing the unknown rather than fearing it, society positions itself to transform challenges into opportunities, turning scientific curiosity into tangible solutions that address pressing global issues such as climate change, food security, and healthcare accessibility. Plastoline is  a gasoline alternative fuel made by an inventor named Julian Brown from plastic waste using a process called microwave pyrolysis .   The invention convert...

The school intramurals this 2025 was exciting for me. Although I did not qualify to join the official intramurals because I lost at tryouts, I still stayed as a spectator, watching my friends compete, with passion and skill. It was inspiring to see everyone giving their best in every game and event. Deep inside, I felt confident that I could beat each and every one of them, especially in chess, because I know my skills well. But sometimes, confidence alone is not enough to secure a spot, and that taught me an important lesson about perseverance and preparation. Watching from the sidelines made me realize how tough the competition really is and how much dedication the athletes put into their craft. I’m motivated now more than ever to improve myself, not just in chess but also in how I approach challenges and setbacks. Losing at tryouts doesn’t define my abilities, it’s just a step in a bigger journey where I can learn, grow, and come back stronger next time. This intramurals exper...
